Beetlejuice Unironed

After Taylor Swift named her fifth album 1989, it’s time to talk about 1988. Well, no one has an album titled 1988 (yet), hence let’s discuss all things that happened in that glorious year (maybe not all but you know some of the most important ones). First there were the Winter Olympics in Calgary, Canada. Second, Rihanna and girl crush numero uno Emma Stone were born. Third, Beetlejuice, the movie premiered. And with Beetlejuice‘s premiere a style icon was born: Mr Beetlejuice himself.

His black and white striped suit inspired many. Who do you think was the catalyst for Robin Thicke’s particularly stripy two-piece during a certain foam hand-, tongue- and bear-filled VMA performance with Miley Cyrus in 2013? And because Mr Thicke couldn’t get enough of it, he recycled the suit for his Give It 2 U music video. This is where Mr Thicke and I (although probably for the first and only time) are most definitely on the same page, in my case, falling for Beetlejuice’s undoubted passion for (alternative) fashion with these jeans. They are a bit out there (maybe just a bit), but that’s why I like them. They give any outfit a bit of spice. You can pair them with the lamest top or in my case a super unironed shirt (I have a very difficult relationship with my iron), and they have the superpower to make the look go bananas. I just don’t have the guts to go all stripy. Who can besides Beetlejuice?
