Real vs. Steal: Isabel Marant vs. H&M

It’s not Christmas yet but this shouldn’t stop us from following in Santa’s fashion footsteps by wearing his all-time favourite colour, red. After all, the Lidls, Waitroses, Walmarts and Whole Foods around the corner will no doubt soon begin the annual process of draping hundreds of baubles around their stores two and a half months before Band Aid can even bring out another version of ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas?’.

So here are two woolly jumpers – one from Isabel Marant and the other one from H&M – to slowly get that Christmas mood started. Once again H&M took the word inspiration very seriously. Yes, Santa inspired the brand. But guess who inspired the Swedish fashion chain more? Isabel Marant. Buttons on the shoulders? Check. Round neck? Check. The only thing missing is the cable-knit pattern and the £435 price tag from Marant’s version. If you can live without some serious cable-knit, here’s your (very early) Christmas pressie from me to you. Just don’t tell Isabel Marant.
